An extraordinary setting is only the beginning. We connect characters, story and performance to create animated films with a reason to watch the next frame.
Mimic Cartoon supports cartoon film and animated short film production, from visual development and character assets through animation and finishing. We can scope a complete short or contribute defined sequences to an existing production. The script, animatic, visual ambition and delivery requirements determine the team, stages and schedule; the brief establishes who owns each part of the production.
Translate the brief into visual direction, character and environment requirements, storyboards and a timed animatic. Establishing the sequence before detailed production gives the team a shared reference for pacing, staging and scope.
02 / THE CRAFT
Characters & world building
Develop the cast, props and environments the story needs. Consider recurring locations, camera distance and interactions together: a world should support the performance, while the assets must work in the shots actually planned.
03 / THE CRAFT
Animation & finishing
Bring the approved sequence through character animation, lighting, rendering and compositing. Hybrid CGI, VFX and Video AI workflows can support appropriate tasks under creative direction, with continuity and final shot quality reviewed throughout.
A world worth stepping into.Environment, color and scale give a story its atmosphere.
A USEFUL DISTINCTION
A short film is a complete storytelling experience. A series pilot must also demonstrate a format that can sustain future episodes. If your immediate goal is to prove a recurring show, our series and pilot service provides a more appropriate starting point.
CLEAR DECISIONS. BETTER PRODUCTION.
From the first conversation to the final handoff.
01
Define the film
Agree the story, audience, runtime, visual direction and production responsibilities. Identify existing assets, partners and delivery specifications.
02
Lock the animatic
Review the sequence as timed boards with provisional sound. Resolve narrative clarity and major editorial choices before committing to detailed shots.
03
Produce the sequence
Build the agreed assets, prepare rigs and animate the shots. Stage reviews around work that can be meaningfully approved together.
04
Finish & deliver
Review lighting, compositing and the final edit against the brief. Confirm audio ownership, titles, captions and master-file requirements before delivery.

SEE THE CREATIVE RANGE
Characters. Stories. Worlds.
Explore the Mimic Cartoon showreel for a selection of performances, visual development and animated worlds. Share the sequences that best match the ambition of your brief.
Two films with the same runtime can have very different production needs. A small cast in one location differs from a sequence with crowds, many environments, complex effects or frequent scene changes. The animatic and asset breakdown make those differences visible and provide the basis for a realistic estimate.
YOUR QUESTIONS, ANSWERED
Cartoon Film & Short Film Production FAQs
A few useful answers before your character’s first scene.
Q / 01
Can you produce a complete animated short film?
We can scope a complete short or sequence across visual development, assets, animation and finishing. The brief must confirm script development, sound, music, voice work and delivery responsibilities rather than assume all supporting services are included.
Q / 02
Can you join a film already in production?
Yes, for an agreed contribution. Share the production bible, technical requirements, shot or asset list, review process and existing files. We assess compatibility and define the handoffs with your current team.
Q / 03
Do I need a finished script before contacting you?
No. An outline, audience and intended runtime are enough for an initial discussion. A more developed script and animatic will be needed to define the production scope and estimate detailed asset and shot work.
Q / 04
Why is an animatic important?
An animatic tests the order, timing and clarity of scenes before expensive detailed animation. It helps identify missing story beats and unnecessary shots and gives production teams a practical reference for the work ahead.
Q / 05
Are sound, music and voice recording included?
Only when explicitly agreed. Tell us whether you have approved recordings and music or need those services coordinated. Audio rights, recording responsibilities, mix requirements and delivery formats belong in the production brief.
Q / 06
Do you handle festival submissions or distribution?
Distribution and submissions are not assumed to be part of animation production. We can discuss the masters and supporting versions your destination requires, while submission, licensing and distribution responsibilities are agreed separately.
